19 Dec Verbier is go!
Andi and Kirsty are back after a successful summer on the super yachts, and this year will be joined by a strong full time team member, Martin. A qualified teacher and experienced traveller Martin is perfect for his role and will be stepping in wherever needed, a multi tasking driver, fire maker, host, pot wash, prep chef, children’s entertainer, DJ, you name it! It’s great to have him on board.
But this is not the only big change in Verbier…
Andi has a new toy and is very excited to be able to cook al fresco in style, thanks to his Big Green Egg! Forget the big red truck famed at this time of year, the Big Green Egg truck arrived in Verbier yesterday afternoon, the boys have assembled it overnight and Andi is ready and raring to go! The ceramic bbq not only looks great but is much more versatile than your average BBQ. Chefs can contol the temperature and control the smoke, it can even be used for smoking meat or fish so Chalet Maurine guests can be expecting a few surprises this year. Think pulled pork, spatchcock chicken and of course his signature beef tagliata! Yum!
Kirsty will of course be looking forward to matching selected wines to compliment Andi’s dishes, and will be making the chalet the cosy place it should be to dine in style. The Christmas tree is up and is looking beautiful, ready for our Christmas guests to arrive.
On the piste there are new runs; skiing down from Savoleyres will be easier this year thanks to Televerbier who have built a new run down to Les Esserts… ideal for lunch at Carre Four or apres at Le Rouge.
The Farinet has changed hands and reopened last night… just in the nick of time! They have a new tapas menu to compliment their cocktails, and no doubt a whole heap of entertainment planned throughout the season.
A firm favourite of ours, Le Rouge, also has exciting changes and has taken over what used to be the Kasbah premises. Offering something new to Verbier Etoile Rouge will be the first supper club in Verbier, with the idea that guests will be able to dine and dance under the same roof. No doubt Etoile Rouge will be very chic and stylish just like it’s older sister.
Staying true to its name, Nomad Sushi has a new location at the Nevaï Hotel. As well as Nomad’s delicious sushi there will also be a Sumibiyaki grill for those with more carnivorous tendencies. The bar team will be serving cocktails which will no doubt be a perfect start to a night dancing until the wee hours at the Farm Club next door.
And when it’s time for a chill, we will again be working with Chillali to provide amazing massages in the comfort of the chalet. With a fresh new team, Chillali will be available to work their magic in our spa area everyday. Sounds like heaven to me!
We have a very good feeling about the season ahead, bring it on!
