COURMAYEUR

This quaint and pretty Italian ski village is situated at the foot of Europe’s highest mountain, Mont Blanc. Although not the largest of ski areas, Courmayeur has so many other attributes going for it including a number of satellite resorts which make for interesting day trips in the Aosta valley, Chamonix and beyond. We truly believe you will fall in love with the resort once you have been.

It boasts challenging off piste, jaw dropping views in all directions, exceptional restaurants and a lively nightlife plus the fact that the village is minutes away from the Mont Blanc tunnel, so a relatively short transfer from Geneva, Milan and Turin. It is also near on impossible to find a bad meal anywhere. There is something for everyone in this resort from the piste bash skier, the adventure skier wanting to cross border ski or the fussy foody who wants to go on a restaurant ski safari.

WHY GO

  • Amazing off-piste skiing
  • Incredible food and wine
  • Friendly relaxed service
  • Quieter piste skiing
  • Heli-skiing opportunities
  • Fantastic hotels at reasonable prices

Skiing in Courmayeur

  • 31 groomed pistes (41km) and 100km of off-piste skiing
  • A three stage cable car which launched in 2016 called the skyway monte bianco which ascends up to 3,466m and then gives the more adventurous skiers off piste runs to die for.
  • Only 22km from Chamonix…

Our top tips:

Any of the mountain restaurants it really is hard to find a bad meal

For après definitely have a stroll down the Via Roma for a few drinks which are always accompanied by a plate of delicious antipasti

Taking the Skyway to some serious off piste action

Book a table at Maison Vielle, it’s an old shepherds hut run by the charismatic Ciacormo Calosi. You will be picked up and dropped off by a snowmobile which adds to the charm and slightly exciting aspect of dining.

Dining in Courmayeur

We loved Bar Roma as it’s a big space with comfortable armchairs and sofas. Great drinks and again plenty of plates of food that come out for free.

If you are after a night of cocktails we loved the busy Bar Americano.
