24 Jan The Reverse Ski Weekend – Why Sunday to Wednesday is the new Thursday to Sunday
We all love a ski weekend, but if you’re travelling Thursday to Sunday, then you’re missing out on the biggest new trend in skiing.
The ‘Reverse Ski Weekend’ is fast becoming one of the most popular requests we receive at Kaluma Travel, and for good reason.
Better Value
Instead of travelling out on a Thursday and back on Sunday, smart weekend skiers have realised that if you travel out on Sunday and then back on Wednesday, you still get the same amount of time in the snow, but at a much-improved price.
Flights are less expensive
Flights are always more expensive for flying out to the Alps on a Thursday or Friday and Sunday flights back are in demand for holidaymakers on week-long trips as well. However, hardly anyone flies out to the Alps on a Sunday, or back on a Wednesday, so there’s almost always a saving there.
Accommodation is less expensive
Hotels and chalets have higher occupancy at weekends so can afford to charge a premium. The start of the week however is rarely booked and so there are some much better prices available.
The Kaluma Travel team will find the right kind of property and resort for you, depending on the size and ability level of your group. All of our team are experienced and will guide you through from the start of your booking until our in-resort team meets you out in the Alps.
More space on the slopes
Why share the slopes with all the day-trippers who only go to ski resorts on a Saturday or Sunday? You can ski on the same slopes and have them to yourselves, with shorter queues and more space to show off your style – or, for those glorious powder days, more time to put down fresh tracks.
Less interruption to your social life
No longer do you have to tell your significant other that you’re going to miss the dinner party or visit to the in-laws that had been on the calendar for months. Instead you can fulfil your obligations over the weekend, before flying out to the snow.
