14 Dec Kaluma Trip to the Alpaga Hotel in Megeve
Many thanks to the fabulous Alpaga hotel in Megeve for their hospitality last night. This 5* Spa hotel nestling in it’s own little hamlet on the edge of Megeve is a place to feel immediately relaxed. Exceptional attention to detail and a very warm welcome from all of their professional team. Even Neal’s dog received the 5* treatment – the dog bowls with special treats were an unexpected little touch on arrival.
The warm alpine contemporary style is modern yet luxuriously homely; a tricky balance to achieve.
The La Colline Swiss Spa is a great space and similar in style to the bathrooms in the hotel, we loved the use of stone and wood. The spa felt very private and indulgent (children welcome till 4pm, after which the kids club is available).
Dinner was exquisite – a truly memorable lobster ravioli seafood bisque with black truffle and artichoke. A definite 10/10 to chef Christophe Schuffenecker for that dish.
One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever had the pleasure to sleep in. Hérmes toiletries are a discrete addition to the luxurious detailing.
We were sorry to have missed the visit to the local farmer’s market in Megeve, but as it will be there every Tuesday and Friday, we are sure to be returning for another visit and hopefully for a ski.
