21 Aug From Chalet to Château…

Do you find organising stress free family holidays quite difficult if so close your eyes and picture this……

 

You are in France and the sun is beating down on your face, you have been whisked away to a 19th century turreted fairytale Château set amid the beautiful rolling French countryside. 

 

 

If you strain your ears you can just about hear some of the children happily playing by the pool and another group cycling through the vineyards laughing. You can vaguely smell the tell tale signs of a delicious meal being prepared by your private chef. Someone interrupts at this moment to hand you a glass of perfectly chilled rosé and offer you a canapé.  You take a sip of your wine and reach for your book, which you have looked forward to enjoying since the school holidays began. You realise you are already half way through and only two days into your holiday.

 

 

You remind yourself that you will soon have to start getting ready for your evening of wine tasting at the vineyard minutes away from your château, followed by a four course dinner which has all been locally sourced.  

 

 

You enjoy a little stretch and decide to reside back to your room and start to run a bath in a room, which has French windows that open out to another stunning view of the river which later on in the week you will be taking a picnic down to while some of your group fish.

 

 

You were up early this morning as you went to the local market in Bordeaux with the chef to buy the produce for tonight and although you are tired now it was worth it just to experience the hubbub of the market and sensory overload. It was nice to take a break at one point and enjoy a cold glass of champagne and a plate of oysters. You make a note to yourself to arrange a massage tomorrow in the grounds of the château for a little R&R… perhaps by the pool or in the shady area of the orchard.
