And so is Courchevel good for beginners?

Yes the good news is that Courchevel is great for beginners.

If it’s your first time skiing, before anything else you need to know if there is going to be enough snow. 80% of the Courchevel ski area situated 1800m or higher above sea level – high, even by ski resort standards and assuring you of good snow conditions.

And if that wasn’t enough, Courchevel has invested heavily in the ability to generate artificial snow if necessary. There are 600 snow-making machines with the ability to cover 60% of all pistes.

So, if you are heading out to Courchevel for your first ever ski holiday, you can confident that there will be plenty of snow for you to ski on.

Beginner Ski Zones

As well as having good snow, Courchevel has some great green (i.e. very easy) pistes for you to learn on.

These include four ‘Evolution Zones’ – also known as ‘Zen’ areas – with the best area for beginners accessed from the Biollay and Jardin Alpin lifts. These zones all offer wide runs, at an easy gradient, and are easy to get to – the perfect place to learn to ski.

Alternatively try the Pralong Zen area, or if you are staying in Courchevel 1650 (Moriond), then the Mickey drag lift is free to use and allows you to access more wide and shallow pistes.
