FIS Ladies Ski World Cup: “Skiing is coming home”

This ski season 2019, sees the ladies Kandahar Race take place as part fo the FIS World Cup circuit in St Anton.

The first race of its kind was held back in 1929, so the strap line “skiing is coming home” has been adopted by St Anton, who again get to showcase the very best the skiing world has to offer.

With training runs on the Thursday and Friday the main race days happen on the weekend. Saturday being the Downhill and the Super G on the Sunday.

A race that is steeped in history and was always renowned for being one of the racers favourites. It takes in the steep Eisfall (waterfall) and the Fang Straight, the final stretch to the finish stadium on the edge of the town, at the foot of the slopes.

For those that have never watched a live race before, it truly is a great experience. Not just for the thrill of the race itself, to see the speeds and the jumps endured by the racers, but for all the side events and party, festival atmosphere that follows many of the world cup races around the ski-globe! Street parties, live bands, live DJ’s, food stalls, beer tents and celebration of all things skiing and Alpine. If anyone knows how to put on a party and showcase the best of the Alps and the amazing resort of St Anton….then it is St Anton itself!
